I feel safer using a "real" broker, especially one that I at least can call up on the phone, even if they're mostly online houses. In some cities, TD and E-Trade actually have storefronts where you can ask questions in person.

Customer service is marginal but it allows trading of penny stocks.

They just changed it to $25,000 account minimum in order to qualify for the 10 free trades.

I've used them for years and they're very good. Don't expect bell and whistles but if you save $$$ who cares.

Based on their comment at Finnovate, the free service will continue. The model is based on the people who make many more then 10 trades per month. They claim a substantial percent of their users do.

I don't expect Zecco to be free for very long, at least not 10 trades free. It will remain one of the cheapest, and as long as you don't need customer service and can use other broker's market platform (assuming you have accounts with other brokers), you will be fine.

lame and rude at times.. customer service is horrible. If you never have to deal with them then you are all ok.

This is Zecco's normal business practice. Its not a special offer for Credit Karma, but it still looks pretty enticing.

I always wanted to buy some individual stocks. Being able to do this for free with zecco is a no brainer.

Zecco has a great trading platform that is constantly updating the look and feel since I've been a member. Their customer service has also made a big change to accommodating my needs!
