I got burned - almost**ed with Prosper. I funded three loans for a total of $200 - two went deliquent and I only collected about 40% of my principal. The third is still paying, but has been late recently. Initially I had planned to "invest" more with them - thank God I did not, I would surely have lost a good chunk of it...

I invested and had very good luck. The loan was paid off early. Am investing again now that it is available.

Invested $6000, lost $600... but hell, what do you expect in this economy? Made me sorry creditors are no longer allowed to break kneecaps though ;)

I also will be lucky to break even on Prosper -- I'm pretty sure I won't be able to. I threw in $1500 (through multiple $50 loans) just to see what happened, and many of the people I loaned to stopped paying, even if they had a good credit rating. When I read the postings of other users, it sounded as though money loss was a common outcome of prosper.

I don't know if Prosper got any better, but I am currently in the hole in terms of earning anything....I would have been better keeping it in the bank account earning the paltry interest most banks currently offer. Whoever decides to bite should be aware of the risks involved in lending your money out especially since Prosper has terribly incompetent collections agencies...
