Offered by: AccountNow
AccountNow is an online prepaid card that offers a range of products and services including Visa and MasterCard prepaid cards, direct deposit, online bill pay, online account access, FDIC-insured deposits, money share and iAdvance line of credit.
AccountNow Prepaid Visa works just like a checking account. Keep your money safe in one of our prepaid card accounts instead of carrying it around in cash. All AccountNow prepaid accounts are FDIC insured, like a checking account, to ensure the safety of your money. AccountNow Prepaid Visa & Prepaid MasterCard cards do not extend credit like credit cards, meaning you can’t spend money you don’t have. Since you are only spending money you add to your prepaid card account, you can avoid falling into debt and possibly damaging your credit score. Because you’re not borrowing money, you will never have to worry about finance charges, late charges, or over-the-limit fees. Save hundreds of dollars a year using the AccountNow Prepaid Visa and Prepaid MasterCard card instead of traditional checking accounts, credit cards, bill paying services, check cashing, or bill paying services.
There are never any late fees, finance charges or overdraft fees. You get unlimited bill paying and credit builder free of charge – no need to pay for postage or money orders. Also, you’ll never have to pay to cash your benefits or payroll check when you use our free direct deposit service.
Using the AccountNow Prepaid Visa and Prepaid MasterCard card can help you build your credit history in two ways. First, pay your bills online for free to save time, money, and demonstrate your credit worthiness. Our free credit builder program reports your bill payment history to PRBC, a credit bureau.
Second, use the AccountNow iAdvance Line of Credit – a sensible borrowing alternative to payday loans. The iAdvance Line of Credit is a short term loan program that is easy to get and cost less than a payday loan. When you pay back the loan, we will report your payment history to the major credit bureaus.

I do not think that this is a good deal. Why should let the bank use my money and make money off of each transaction I make with this card. It appears like a win-win situation for the bank and a loose-neutral situation for me.

It's a debit card (just like you get from your bank with your checking account) that reports to a Credit Agency that isn't used in today's market. It offers nothing that any other bank wouldn't offer with a checking account.

This card is mostly targeted at the unbanked, who are denied bank accounts for specific reasons or they just have a weird phobia about checking.
The only way you'd ever want to use this product is if you're in ChexSystems and TeleCheck and can't open a bank account anymore or you're totally unbanked.
Even so, the fees attached to this product are way more costly than most basic checking products. I'd avoid this unless I was destitute.

This pitch does NOT in any way effect your credit score negatively or positively. Much like a "debit" or checking account "MAC" card, no loaning or forwarding you any more buying power than you have available in a secured cash account. So....credit builder? Nope! Not a chance. You're better off with a typical debit card.

This is nothing more than a prepaid card with spin..and spin is nothing more than creating an illusion. This is a prepaid card....

I actually have the card. It does not report to your credit but it is good for those, like myself, who have a problem balancing a checkbook and don't want to continue getting "raped" by the banks and their high overdraft fees. No checks either so it really makes you think about your "wants vs. needs". I use it for my military disability payment and I actually like it.
