Interests too high

They don't negotiate if you want a lower interest rate. Even upon leaving they couldn't/wouldn't give a lower interest rate. Had the card for three years, always paid on time and at least paid 3x the miniumum. Was very disapointed. I think the whole U.S. military thing is a sham, but some people swear by them. Not me, at least not for credit. They are very secure oriented and ask a lot of questions even after voice identification. After awhile it was a hassle. Much happier that I moved on from USAA Classic Platinum Visa/MasterCard.

Slowwww ... processssing

“A”, 5-stars (Credit Karma will NOT allow us to select 5 stars!) for excellent communications (various levels of support), “F”. zero-stars for transaction processing. Communications thus far with USAA have been excellent, however, their transaction processing (including payments, etc) is slow, VERRRRY SLOWWW when compared to other credit card companies.

Where our other cards post (not “appear” or pending but actually “post)) the same day, if made by the cut-off time of 8:00 PM CT, you’ll be lucky if you payments will post within two days. Some payments have taken as long as 3-4 days. Oh, and that’s business days, vs. weekends. Transactions are even worse, appearing as pending, disappearing, reappearing after 2, 3 or more days and finally “posting” (again, not appearing or pending, but posting.

Now, in all fairness, the standard explanation that the vendors (merchants) are responsible for those sporadic transactions, sending test or trial charges to a charge account might be valid … MIGHT be valid. If that’s the case then why do the other credit cards post (once more, “post” not pend) transactions within 2 business days, even on Saturdays with a couple of cards.

Also, if it were the merchants to blame for these sporadic transactions, which is occurring ONLY with USAA, then why would the same issues (transactions appearing, disappearing) occur with payments made against the USAA Visa from WITHIN our USAA account. Those transactions appear and disappear as well, with many of those payment taking 3-4 days.

This sporadic, erratic processing can almost give cardholders the feeling that USAA does this intentionally, so that balances will be carried forward to the next statement, preventing cardholders from paying their balances in full, every month, preferably long before the due date.

I’ll give USAA the benefit of the doubt however and blame it on an outdated, inefficient operating system(s) and internal applications. What customer service representative would want listen to possibly thousands of customers yelling every month about slow transaction processing as well as substantially slow payment processing? After reading several forums about USAA, we’re one out of a multitude of unhappy cardholders dissatisfied with USAA extremely slow transaction processing.

To recap and reaffirm, the 5-star rating is for customer relations (support) thus far. USAA processing gets a huge “F.”
