We think it's important for you to understand how we make money. It's pretty simple, actually. The offers for financial products you see on our platform come from companies who pay us. The money we make helps us give you access to free credit scores and reports and helps us create our other great tools and educational materials.
Compensation may factor into how and where products appear on our platform (and in what order). But since we generally make money when you find an offer you like and get, we try to show you offers we think are a good match for you. That's why we provide features like your Approval Odds and savings estimates.
Of course, the offers on our platform don't represent all financial products out there, but our goal is to show you as many great options as we can.

What you need to know about the Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard®
The Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® is a great option for someone looking to easily accrue and use miles to pay for travel. Here are some of the highlights of this card.
70,000-mile sign-up bonus
Looking for an immediate reward? With the Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard®, you’ll earn 70,000 bonus miles when you spend $5,000 in purchases within the first 90 days of the account opening. That’s equal to $700 in travel redemption rewards.
Bonus miles on all purchases
The Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® makes earning miles simple since there are no categories to keep track of. Instead, you’ll earn two miles for every $1 spent on all purchases. Spend $50 on anything and you’ll have 100 miles to put toward a reward.
And every time you redeem with the Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard®, you’ll also earn 5% of your miles back when you redeem them for travel, cash, gift cards or merchandise. So if you use 20,000 miles to redeem a $200 flight, you’ll receive 1,000 miles back as a bonus to put toward your next redemption.
Flexible redemption options
Redeeming your miles for travel is also easy. When you use the Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® for travel purchases of $100 or more, you can redeem your miles for a travel statement credit on any qualifying travel purchases made within the previous 120 days.
There are many purchases that fall under the travel category. Here’s a list of different purchase categories that you can redeem miles for.
- Car rentals
- Cruise lines
- Travel agencies
- Discount travel sites
- Trains and buses
- Taxis and limousines
You can also use your miles to pay your annual fee after the first year (it’s $0 intro, $89 after first year).
Travel redemption begins at 10,000 miles (or $100 in travel costs). If your travel purchase is less than $100, you won’t be able to use your miles for travel credit.
But if you’re using travel redemption to pay for your annual fee, the $100 minimum doesn’t apply.
Although you’re also able to redeem your miles for cash back, gift cards and merchandise, you’ll get the best value redeeming your miles for travel. Redemptions for cash back and gift cards start at 5,000 miles, which will give you $25 in cash back or in gift cards. For reference, at 10,000 miles, you can get a $100 travel redemption. That same 10,000 miles will only get you $50 in gift cards or cash back.

Who this card is good for
The Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® offers a substantial sign-up bonus and a simple two-mile-per-$1 accrual system, which can help you rack up miles quickly. With a flexible system for redeeming miles for travel statement credits, this card is a great choice for someone who doesn’t want to be restricted as to what type of travel they can redeem their miles for. You can redeem miles for a wide variety of travel and you can shop around for the best travel deals.
But the Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard®’s flexibility does come with some drawbacks. If you’re interested in travel perks like lounge access, priority boarding and free checked bags, this card isn’t a great option.
Also, the Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® might not be the best choice for someone who’s more interested in cash back rewards. The redemption rate is much lower for cash back than it is for travel: 10,000 miles will get you $100 in travel statement credits, but only $50 in cash back statement credits.
