I had 2 Credit Cards with CITI one Advantage Platinum and 0ne CITI COSTCO . I requested a line increase on the Advantage asking for $ 5000 more on a $ 7000 credit line. My credit scores were: Experian 745, Transunion 727, Equifax 718 . At first the automated system declined my request so I prompted the system to get a copy of my credit report for consideration. After 30 hrs I got an email notifying me that my request was not approved stating that all my lines of credit available are too high versus my income which is $ 80 K a year. In other words they were saying that I have too much credit available between all my credit cards. I'm using 15% of the total 100K network and they are stating that . I called them to clarify this and now they said that my equifax credit report is too low to get an approval. This time CITI only requested a copy of my equifax report only . When I applied for this card they pulled Experian as well . Experts recommend to not use more than 30% of your available credit lines and I'm using 15% And got declined . I think AMEX, Chase and even Discover are way more generous in granting lines of credit . Just be careful to think CITI will rely on Experian only when reviewing your credit because they might stick with your lowest score between the three of your credit bureaus. I will keep my CITI cards but stop using them as often as I thought .

I applied for this card when my credit score was in the 680's. I was given an $8,500 credit line with a 50,000 miles bonus. The interest rate is under 20%, they provided excellent customer service, I had to dispute some transactions because the merchant would not accept a return for bringing me broken kitchen furniture, Citi asked me to provide proof of the problem and I was given all of my money back the next day. I never had any trouble with any of my cards having the credit line reduced, but I know from people close to me that had their credit lines reduced was when they were having financial difficulties or had been red flagged for missing payments or having very high debt to income ratios or used all of the credit lines on other cards, they never used the cards, etc. but there was always a reason, banks typically dont just reduce the credit line of good customers.

Worst marketing strategies from Citi. I filled out a "see if you qualify ap" turns out NO. Ok then, so then right next to the decline they say"You can apply for one of the 4 cards below. Ugh, so yeah, declined ? but offer me 4 cards to pick from? ok. So I apply thinking well if they are offering these ones means the other offers don't meet their standards. And what do you know! NO !!!!! declined. 699 score with 100% payment history . They just damaged my SCORE ...
