I applied once I got my personal target score of 710 from transunion. With that in mind, I am arguably a new borrower; I have three credit cards, all paid on time, but all under 2 years old. No other debt besides a student loan of 800 that I have deferred. And my utilization is typically less than 20%. After completing the application I was immediately denied, but after reviewing the disclosure, I was denied with a score much lower than is reflected on CK! I call and speak with a representative who said it was unlikely to be approved even if I faxed in documentation of my score! The whole conversation was very halfhearted, and unhelpful.
The lending criteria that Nationwide uses are very strict and Credit Karma, just like in the other offers, mischaracterizes the chances of approval. Apparently Credit Karma gets a commission every time someone falls for this and applies with a lender.
