I LOVE THE FACT OF MY INTEREST RATE BEING ONLY 2% (MY CREDIT SCORE 680 EXPIRIAN ) , LOVE THE WAY THEY TREAT ME SPECIALLY FOR MY PERSONAL BANKER, EVERYTHING WAS SIMPLE AN SMOOOTH PROCESS I WILL ALWAYS COME BACK TO THEM BETTER THAN MY TWO CREDIT UNION
To make a long story short, I was provided incorrect information which resulted in negative hits to my credit report. I fell behind on one payment back in 2015 due to hospitalization. When I called in to make payment arrangements, my mortgage assistant representative told me about a loan modification. She basically told me that it could possibly lower my monthly payments and my interest rate (4% at the time). It all sounded too good to be true. I specially asked her if it would affect my credit and she told me NO and that at the end of the trial modification period, I could decline! I value my credit and was very disappointed to learn what had happened. Keep in mind that they had to cancel my auto pay in order to accept the trial period (trial payments had to be submitted via phone with mortgage representative).
The trial period was for about 5 months and I followed the payment schedule exactly how it was outlined to me; even made the payments before the due dates. When I started receiving notifications from my credit monitoring service about late payments, I was baffled. I called in questioning the alerts and to my surprise, US Bank indeed reported several months of late payments (the months during the trial period). I was informed that those trial payments were partial payments resulting in my account payments not being fulfilled. At one point, a representative told me that there was over $1100k sitting out there waiting to be applied to my account. I was furious, because I specifically asked if there were any risks in accepting the trial period. At the end of the trial period, I did receive notice that my monthly payment had decreased over $200 and my interest rate came back as a little over 3%. However, I declined the entire process and now I'm getting ready to sell my property. I still feel that US Bank took advantage (despite my many attempts to provide my bank statements and notes from calling in) and refuses to remove the late payments from my credit. They told me that their system does not acknowledge trial payments, only full payments. If I had know all of this before I accepted the trial, I would not have this problem. I had no problem continuing paying my mortgage as I only fell behind one month which I quickly caught up. Shame on you US Bank! I know now to do my research beforehand! I asked them several times to go back and review the recorded phone calls and they did nothing! The damage is done and I feel that I cannot trust US Bank.
My wife and I have shared this card for the past 3 years and love it! It provides a generous credit limit, good customer service and online experience, no foreign fees and excellent rewards. Although you can redeem rewards for merchandise or cash back, we have found you can almost double the value of your rewards when using it to redeem for airfare/travel. We have redeemed almost $3,000 in rewards travel in the first 3 years and never paid a dime of interest!
1000 pts = $5 certificate for Kroger, which puts general purchases at 0.5% back, Kroger purchases at 1% back, and Kroger brand purchases at 1.5% back. They do send some nice coupons, but I don't know if that warrants applying for this mediocre rewards. There are better cards with 1.5% CASHback for general purchases with no annual fees.
I paid my annual gym membership to corepower yoga, which i slisted on the USBank website as a "participating merchant". The rewards manager told me the charge came through as recreation so it would not qualify for the 5% reward. So why have it as a "participating merchant" I asked. The manaer told me is was just an example of the type of gym, and there is a footnote stating as much. The footnote was not related to the merchans listed, but there was no point going round and round with someone who was being deliberatley obtuse so I gave up. The point is, USBank does not honor its claims. Stay away!
Be careful about making payments over the phone. I made a payment before due date as I normally do...I tried to use my caRd at the end of the month and found out that Mt payment was not processed. I had to make another payment to use darn card..although it came out of my checking account...they claim they could not find the payment...member services sucks...did nothing for me..closing my account..
This card will benefit folks who travel LAN frequently. Otherwise, it's not worth the $75 annual fee.
I canceled my card two months after I paid the annual fee, and US Bank will not return the prorated fee. Other banks offer that.
Also, the phone number listed on the back of the LANPASS card goes to LAN customer service that helps you purchase plane tickets. They have absolutely nothing to do with the credit card and were super rude (although I have to say it was pretty funny when Mr. Sassy at LAN called me "lady" for the 18th time during a 3 minute conversation).
