Credit card reporting totally bogus info to reporting agency
This irks me to no end! Aug 21 I opened a well known credit card account and made a purchase with a promo no interest if paid off in 6 mths. Jan 26 I recv'd e- stating bal had to be pd in full by Feb 20 or int will be added from purchase date. Pd off to 0.00 bal on Feb 20, of which card company acknowledges. Expected Equifax, TU, and Esperian ( we subscribe) to notify of large paid off acct. Instead, the card company reported full balance PLUS the interest owing! Immediately called card company. I was told they don't have access to info other than they too show a zero balance, we don't owe anything. Two days later we get bill from card company in mail showing we owe full balance PLUS interest! So we know we have a zero balance, card company acknowledges zero balance, but credit reporting agency and our bill states we owe full balance plus 6 months interest which was NEVER the case! Clearly the card company didn't expect us to pay it off and jumped the gun reporting to agencies. Why is this allowed to happen and will it ever just correct itself?
