Better to open a Balance Transfer Card or Wait?
Any advice would be appreciated! Our credit scores dropped from Good to Poor this month because of High Credit Utilization. Long story short, had unexpected illness and lost wages which ended up causing us to put bills on credit cards. We are applying for an apartment in the next 4-6 weeks though due to our lease being up on our current one. We have to move because it was a large apartment and our roommate moved out. I need advice on whether at this point it would be more beneficial to leave our credit as is and just pay off what we can before the credit check is done by the leasing office, which unfortunately will not be much; or to apply for a balance transfer card to move some higher balances over to that card? I am concerned to that only because of the effect the hard credit inquiry will have on the report and score. I would appreciate any help or advice since this is a delicate and timely situation! Thank you!
