should i close a recently opened credit card? or more?
I have many accounts that are open and closed still on my report. My age of credit has dropped significantly in the past 14 months with 5 cards opened. Most of my accounts that are old are college loans that will be there for a while. I have just received a loan from Lending Club to pay them all off. This will change my age of credit I assume. Should I close my very small credit limit card with an annual fee that I don't need anymore? I opened it 6 months ago. If so, should I also close my other annual fee 2,500 account as well from 8 months ago? How about the 1,200 one from 9 months ago? They all have high rates. If I close all three, it will eliminate 30% of my available credit but should up the average credit by a bit. I have no plans for big purchases the next couple years.. Are the ages weighted at all for credit limits or loan size? i.e. 1, 5000 loan at 1 year old= 1, 500 credit card at one year old? Thanks for your help in advance!
