Any way to reopen an old credit card that im still paying off?

So the scenario is that my wife closed 2 credit card accounts about 4 or 5 months ago, one for Victoria's Secret and the other for Gap. We're paying off the balance from both cards still, one is $800+ and the other is $500+ and have not missed any payments since July of 2012. Before they were closed both accounts were about 10 years old each and her credit score was around 650. So other then July of 2012 we've never missed a payment and she was utilizing the card (a little to much imo) and got her credit limit up several times.

Right after she closed both accounts her credit score seemed to drop to 580's. So my question is, would there be ANY way Gap or VS would reopen the same line of credit so she can benefit from the long credit life she had on that account considering we always made our payments on time except once last year due to a bank hiccup. We called them once already and they stated they can only reopen an account after 90 days. Im hoping there's some magic that could be done as I'd hate for that great history to be lost all of a sudden. If they don't reopen the account, would it help her credit score to just pay off the full amount of both cards in one shot? and would it delete the late payment remark from her credit report?

Cliff notes

Had two 10 year old credit cards
Both CC accounts closed about 4-5months ago
Credit score dropped almost 100 points after CC's were closed
Still paying off CCs ($800 dollars and $500)
Only late 1 time in 2012
Already talked to CC rep, stated cannot reopen after 90 days
Praying for some kind of miracle that would allow these very aged CC accounts to reopen due to good repoire with both CC's.
If there's absolutely no way to reopen the accounts, would paying the cards off in full help increases her score at all?
