My friend told me that I should keep my first credit card active. And I just found out it was closed on Nov 2010, after a long time not being used. I opened that card probably at the end of 2006. My question is, will it help with my credit score if I re-open it? Since it was closed now, I have to re-apply for it. Does anyone know that if the opening date remains the old date if I reapply for it? BTW, my credit score is 766, which is not too bad, right? Thanks a lot!

Re-applying won't help if it is a new card. You have to ask them to reactive it. Your score is good so I wouldnt sweat it too much. Just make sure you have a have few cards open and in good standing.
