Poor credit and debt consolidation?
My credit is sitting in the mid-low 600s. I applied for a Home Equity Line of Credit with a co-signer who is not listed on my deed. Their credit is in the 800s. We only applied for $25,000. I have no mortgage. I have never had a late or missed payment. My only issue is credit card utilization, thus the reason for wanting the HELOC. But we were still denied, because my credit falls below the minimum 700. I don't really know what else to do right now. I'm paying out hundreds of dollars in credit card bills every month. I tried a balance transfer, only to end up with more credit cards, since the balance transfer didn't cover all my credit card debt. It's getting to be extremely overwhelming, but I don't want to destroy my credit further with a bankruptcy. My employment history is steady, with no gaps of unemployment, but I've had to switch jobs twice in the last year due to personal issues at the jobs. I'm planning on staying in this job for a long time, but it does me no good now. The only way for me to get my credit up is to pay off debt, and I can't pay off debt without drowning in the process. It makes me feel so hopeless!
