Debt consolidation will stay on the credit report for at least 5 years. It is a real joke, because here you are trying to pay off debt that you incurred and are being honest in doing so, and it hurts rather then helps your credit score. I had at least two people tell me that. One was an auto dealer salesperson who said it would have been better off to aviod using a debt consolidation company, and a bank lender told me the same thing. It suck because even though the accounts are all paid off with a zero balance, I still pay for it with a lower credit score...UGH!!!!!!
