Would it help my credit to close newly opened cards?
Would it help my credit to close newly opened credit cards? I have several cards that are 6-9 years old, but a few that are 1 and 2 years old. My thinking is that... if I close the newly opened ones, the average age would increase. Is this correct?

No, it will not help at all.  the cards are on your reports and will remain there for the next 10 years after you close them.  So I would not do that at all.  Just enjoy your cards and use them wisely.
