I've never had a credit card.
Recently approved for 2 secured cc. These cards report to all 3 credit bureaus, with an option after 1yr to turn into non-secured cards.

How much will minimal usage boost my score?

No one can say for sure, as the exact amount depends on your credit history and your usage of the new account. In  general, using a credit card responsibly will boost your score after several months of on-time payments and a moderate utilization rates.
