If you have a few cards that you are using responsibly (keeping a low utilization) (also always let one of them report a small balance each month at statement date, you can still pay it off before the due date) then you may consider getting an installment loan as that will help your credit profile/score as well as soon as you get it paid down some. One way to do it even though it will cost you some money in interest is to get a $1000 loan for a term of 12 or 18 months or longer and pay $800 or so toward it a couple weeks after you get the loan.
