Credit card denied because of a State Lien?
My husb has a Satisfied State Lien in credit report for 1 year. The Lien was a mistake from our account reporting our taxes, he made an amendment with NYS and got the Lien satisfied. NYS send us a letter confirming and attesting it. He has 1,4 yrs of credit history and his credit that was 780 went to 640. He wants to rebuild ASAP and needs to apply for credit card. He just got denied for AMEX Everyday. Was it denied because of the derogatory mark or because of the credit score?

The denial letter will come in the mail in 7 to 10 days. The letter will state the reasons for denial. Generally the Everyday card is for excellent credit, and I believe a 720+ score is required.
