"I heard you aren't supposed to use all of it though because your credit score goes up if you use a small percentage of your available credit. Is that true, and how much is that weighted into your credit score if it is true?"

In the FICO scoring model 30% of your score is determined by what you do with your credit cards. Right now they estimate the best score potential if you only utilize 15-25% of you available balance on a monthly basis. Which means if you were to use $300 of that card on a monthly basis your score will improve significantly over time."

i had a credit card for a year and they denied me with a score of 720 so they will just say your credit history is insufficient

One year is considered "thin" by most lenders

You are missing the point. It is a Student Card, meaning it is designed for students. Students are fresh out of High School with little to no credit history. The offer itself says "Build your credit." Which says to me that you don't need a lot of credit to qualify. If you already have a lot of established credit why would you need a card that helps you build it?"

Declined with a CK score of 649. I am brand new with only two auto loans - one of them paid off. This sucks. Guess I will have to get a Secured Credit Card."

So why do they have an ad.....?????

Looks like no one gets approved."

Plenty of people get approved. It is more the case that more of the unapproved are commenting. We show the average credit score of approvals as reference.

I got it! Discover called me, but I was in class this morning, so I called them back just now and I was accepted. I don't know the details, but they are sending me the info. I'll get it in 8-10 business days, so I'll look over it then and decide if I want it. My credit score is 681 (or at least it was before Discover made a hard inquiry on it...)"

I just applied this evening. Discover told me pretty much immediately that they needed more time to process but that I could call them or have them call me within 48 hrs. I'm going to call them tomorrow, but will that help at all? I also got a "will get back to you within 30 days" message, so how does that fit with the "can give you a call back within 48 hrs" option?"

it's pretty much a no if they require further processing"

That is actually not true. Many people are seeing approvals after further processing.

K I got my card. Discover gave me a credit line of $1,500...that's not too bad, right? I heard you aren't supposed to use all of it though because your credit score goes up if you use a small percentage of your available credit. Is that true, and how much is that weighted into your credit score if it is true?"
