Don't apply if your credit is poor and you don't live in a state whose board of insurance bans insurance companies from factoring credit scores into premiums. If you are in such a situation, you might get bigger discounts by finding an insurer who doesn't rate risk off credit (there are still some out there who don't rate that way) "
