Collection Agency Reporting Several times in one month
I have one account in collections but the collection agency makes it look like I have six. It reports the account six times every month. Also, they have added over $3,000 to the amount I originally owed which I assume is penalties and fees. Is there no limit to the penalties they can add on and is there no limit to the number of times they're allowed to report it in one month? Someone looking at my report might think I have six accounts that are in collections rather than one. And doesn't $3,000 seem like a lot for penalties and fees? Aren't there any rules about this?
