Barclaycard Sucks - Over720score Denied Helpful to 6 out of 7 people

I applied for Barclaycard twice in my lifetime. Around 720 credit score and they denied me credit saying I don't have a long enough credit history. Second time I applied was recently 6/30/2015. I applied online, it didnt give me a decision in seconds. It said someone will get back to me with in 10 business days. They pulled my credit which i can see. And i can tell you i have excellent credit way more history than the first time. Little over 10 year mortgage, two car loans showing paid off, a third showing paid as agreed, no negative items.  They pulled from TU which is showing a 767 score. I checked status days later. No decision. On 7/4/2015, I receive a alert saying on 7/3/2015 they pulled my credit again from Exp. and my Exp. report and score is better than TU with 775 showing from the last card lender that pulled it. I went to their website to check the status of application, and it said they DECLINED my request for credit. I have tried twice with them with two score over 700+. Don't forget on each application they have pulled credit from different bureaus, not just using one report. All positive accounts, nothing negative. My thing is, if the second report is better than the first report, why did they pull the second report just to decline me? Unless there is a positive account that they don't see as positive, but negative. At the end of the day, don't waste your time with Barclay Bank. I read alot of negative things. I tried to give them a second chance. But they continue to decline consumers with excellent credit. It is hard for me to believe that with excellent credit and excellent payment history, no lates. That Barclaycard couldn't even extend me a $250 line like they did someone else on this review site.

My advice - Stay away from Barclaycards. The only thing you will get from them is inquires to hurt your score.

Great Card! Helpful to 1 out of 2 people

I've only had my Barclaycard for a couple months now, but I just couldn't turn down an oppritunity of an 8% APR card. I'm only planning on using it in emergency situations, but within a month of geting the card it has boosted my Vantage Score almost 20 points even with a zero balance! I would recommend this card to anyone that has an adequate credit score to get this card.

Excellent card, Great customer service Helpful to 19 out of 20 people

Applied with c/s of about 670. Currently have a Barclay card with $1500 c/l. I was surprised when they denied me. Called c/s for a re-consideration and was approved under the condition I close my existing account. That was fine with me. New card has c/l of $2000. 8% on purchases, balance transfers and cash advances. Did a balance transfer of $800. No problem and today I recieved an $8 statement credit. Barclays Ring card gives a 1% credit on all balance transfers. What a deal! I've been re-building credit now for 24 months. Gone from in the toilet to an 8% card. Gotta love it. My anual income btw is $18,600. If I can do it you can. Hang in there.

Lowered my credit line Helpful to 12 out of 23 people

Don't waste your time with this card.  I had a $5000.00 limit it was lowered to $1300.00.  I had a purchase declined thats how I found out.  In doing my research I see this is there common practice id you use your card a lot.  Why issue a card then makes no sence.  I closed my account and paid the $1300.  balance in full.  They suck I will surly tell all my friends.

So far, so good. Helpful to 5 out of 8 people

I'm a 23 year old male and got approved with a rating of about 729. It came with a $1,500 balance, which is plenty for somebody like me. Same amount that my other card started me off with.

Balance transfer of over $200 was approved and processed within 10 business days, no problems.
