Great Card While It Lasted

I didn't use this card much, but when I needed a VISA, I'd always bust this out and I'd ear VX points on purchases I was going to make anyway. Using it on VX purchases only gave me more points, and it was nice just slowly and steadily racking up points using this card on an average of 5-7 times a month.

I even got a 10,000 bonus for signing up! I guess others got 20,000 bonus points, and had I known that was being offered, I would have tried to see if I could get the same deal (I'll admit I didn't do the research fully).

Also, the Companion Ticket was amazing. Ultimately, you still get a discount, since the card costs $49 annually and the once-a-year discount ticket was $150 off. However, I noticed that this year, there were far more blackout dates to use the discount ticket, compared to last year.

In fact, VX was quite ruthless about it this year. I looked it up - EVERY SINGLE holiday weekend is blacked out if you want to travel during this annual cycle. Last year, some holidays were blacked out, but you could still use the discount on Christmas!

But overall, I had no complaints. I'm just sad that this card is ending. Barclay and VX are discontinuing their relationship, so alas, my card will end by the end of this year. (And Barclay is transfering my account to the new Arrival World Mastercard, which from what I read, seems to be the best frequent flyer card out there.)

However, I think VX is launching a new credit card in January, so keep your ears peeled for that!

The website is very user unfriendly. Also it give you a log in name and then asks for your email address!  It cannot remember your password and you constantly have to call customer service for a new one.

Customer Service are foreign and almost impossilbe to understand. They have a prepared script and if you deviate from it you have to begin again. Overall very frustrating experiences.

Virgin America is by far the best airline in the USA. This card gets you flying them faster with NO blackouts, plus you can take advantage of airfare sales to fly Free MUCH faster than on other airlines. You can also use the points on Virgin Atlantic or Virgin Australia.

Excited for companion ticket discount! Helpful to 2 out of 2 people

Admittedly, I JUST got this card, so I haven't had the chance to start using it yet. I was approved for a $3,500 limit with a credit score of 737. The new card immediately showed up in my credit notifications and my score jumped to 761 - finally rated "excellent"!

I'm most excited about the $150 discount on a companion ticket each year because my husband and I love flying Virgin. The card does come with a $49 annual fee, but as long as we use the companion ticket, it'll quickly pay for itself.
