Unrivaled Customer Service

American Express offers the best customer service I've ever dealt with. I applaud them for this every chance I get. The mobile apps are intuitive, you get a representative on the phone almost immediately when you call and they always work your problem like it's their own. If you are on the fence with this card, you shouldn't be. However, don't be lured into getting the card unless you travel frequently or you are in the military in which case they waive the annual fee. (Thanks American Express).

First off, I have both the Chase Sapphire Reserve and this card. I got them both within a month or so of each other so I could have a real world comparison. The sapphire Reserve basically blows this car out of the water. Case in point when I met my $4,000 spend for the CSR, my 50,000 points were available within a day or so. I had to call Amex once I met my$5,000 spend for their card, and after some Hustle on the part of the customer service rep, was told it would take 10 to 12 weeks for my points to show! When I pressed her as to why this was she said it was to make sure that I did not return anything in order to get the points. I express how ludicrous this was as Chase does it literally the next day. There's a good chance I probably won't extend this card beyond the one year. As I don't consider this to be customer service or customer focus. I will say I do enjoy the $200 Uber credit and did get to use the Delta Sky Lounge on my flights with Delta. However Chase gives you a $300 travel credit that's super generous as well as priority pass select (similar to Amex). My advice would be to go straight for the Chase Sapphire Reserve, as it has a lower annual fee, much more robust benefits, and overall better customer service
