Is there a way to remove a lien from your credit report (besides the obvious of paying it)? I understand they do have a time limit also, but don't collection agencies just "renew" it, starting the cycle all over again? The biggest hindrance to us paying the liens off (besides not having the extra money to do so) is that the liens are outbalanced by what we actually owed and the excessive interest and charges that have "accrued" over the years. I ask this because we have tried to get a home addition loan (our house has been paid off for 5 years) but the bank won't loan (using the house as collateral) because of the liens. We live in a small home (2 bd/1 ba for a family of 6), are literally desperate for a third bedroom, and we can't figure out how to borrow the money to add-on because we can't borrow it from a bank due to the liens. Any advice?
