My girlfriend and I have just started our "Credit Score Hunt" - and recently received our new Bank Issued CCs. We will use these to take baby steps towards better credit scores. So far so good.
But, my girlfriend has a couple of old CCs from Macy's etc., but hasn't used them for a while (they may be inactive, not sure).
So, should she make use of these again?
#1) To "re-activate" cards with a longer history than her new one.
#2) Simply to use more credit cards to speed up the process...
#3) Lastly, Im not much into these kind of CCs, but my opinion is based on a "feeling" rather than evidence of these kind of cards being worse than real bank issued ones... Can any of you share some general thoughts on this?
Thanks to all of you :)

The credit cards that she has not used in while will not positively help your credit unless you are making payments on them monthly. Keeping them inactive are neither hurting or helping you from month to month. Unless your credit card issuer has anything new to report, you score will not benefit. Using more credit cards wisely WILL speed up the process. The two best and ways to increase credit are to pay off debt and to make payments on time. And to answer number three, department store cards aren't going to help you as much as a major credit card would, that being said don't run off and close the accounts as that will may negatively affect your credit score. Using the cards on small purchases and making your monthly payments on time is the best way to go.
