Same-sex marriage has been legal for more than three years, but many in the LGBTQ community remain confused about the tax breaks and benefits available to same-sex couples. In a March 2018 survey of 155 respondents, more than a quarter of same-sex spouses polled by Credit Karma Tax® said they were moderately confused about selecting a filing status.

Christina Taylor, Credit Karma’s senior manager of tax operations, recently joined Debt Free Guys™ on their Queer Money™ podcast to share the findings of that survey. Taylor explains why tax law can be so confusing for same-sex married couples and offers tips to make tax season less stressful. Listen to the podcast here.

“We want to empower the LGBTQ community to make financial progress and to be aware of the tax breaks and benefits available to them,” Taylor notes in the episode.
