TDECU Credit cards- dont get
mikefinchmp Account Holder

I was approved for the Onyx Platinum card with a 2k limit. I have an Amex Platinum and citi card and many others- with all of my cards other then TDECU I can over pay and have a ZERO balance then next month- Not with TDECU- the fine print cost me a lot of points on my credit report and even though they have the power to fix it they wont. I have been a member for over 25 years but this is ubsurd. Don't get the credit card- not worth it.

Personal customer service.

I have banked a lot, and I am so glad to be with TDECU. There is no comparison with the personal service as opposed to the big banks where you are just a number. My guess, if anyone has a bad experience with this Credit Union, it due to the customer or a particular employee spoiling a good name.

From Best to Worst
Anonymous Account Holder

This credit union was excellent when it was exclusive to Dow Employees. Then they got greedy and opened up, started naming stadiums and lost their way. Simple things like a wire transfer requires 30 minute hold times. They upgraded what was a simple online banking system and locked people out for weeks while simultaneously cancelling their bill payments. So once customers got back in, they found that mortages and utility payments had gone past due. I actually got an electrical disconnect notice during that time which cost me $20 to remove from my account. Avoid this credit union at all costs. It's like a big bank, only with worse service, which is amazing.

Unorganized and unprofessional
Anonymous Account Holder

I've had representatives on the phone laugh at me because they locked my account and had me on the edge last summer. Online banking is not even possible which i dont think a financial instution has not had a online transfer source since the mid 90's. They have taken out my car loan 2 times back to back on multiple occasions. I went to Chase bank after these guys screwed up more than a few times and thank God. Only reason why iim still with this horrible company is because my car loan is with them which I will soon be re financing.

Wouldn't suggest them to my worst enemy
Anonymous Account Holder

I'd love to give this institution less than one star. Because they aren't worth a single star. After several recommendations from friends, I went through them for a mortgage "The American Dream" loan. It was more along the lines of American Nightmare. The process was only briefly explained to me, I could only get help if I emailed my mortgage loan officer, rarely would she answer the phone. Once we found a house and got the process started it wasn't too bad until my case was handed off so we could start the closing. That's when the nightmare started. The individual handling my closing was INCREDIBLY unprofessional. I never got to speak to her once, even though I called about 30 times trying to reach her. Always got the same message every time I called " XXXXXXXX is at lunch" whether it was 9 am or 4 pm. She was slow to respond to emails. Kept losing my paperwork and I had to fill out several items multiple times because she would lose it. Nearing the closing date on my house ( which changed every few weeks), I was told an estimate of closing. No big deal just ready to get done with the process. Two hours before closing on my house and while I am working I get an email from tdecu saying that the closing costs are nearly DOUBLE what my original estimate and because I didn't have enough money in my account they wouldn't do a wire transfer to the title company, which if the title company hadn't gotten involved, would have resulted in my loan rates unlocking within a few days and after being subjected to a interest rate hike or dip I'd have to pay a penalty to complete the closing. Oh and the wire transfer that was setup to be " free" ended up costing me 15 bucks. Overall I have never been treated this way by any bank or credit union. I will deal with them for the duration of my mortgage or until I sell the house but I will never let them have my business again. Wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.
