The South Florida Education Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1935 by a group of school teachers under the name Dade County Florida Teachers Federal Credit Union. In 1972, SFEFCU changed to its current name to better serve all employees of local institutions. SFEFCU has about $700 million in assets and over 61,000 members.
