Why does a credit inquiry drop your insurance rating?
The most incredibly stupid ratings systems ever concocted. I've been driving for 50 years and never had a ticket or accident. My husband hasn't had a ticket in over 30 years. We own our home free and clear, pay our bills on time, have no criminal record, but because an illness forced us into a bankruptcy 5 years ago, we're listed as a poor insurance risk. Our rates increased 30% when we filed a bankruptcy. We can't shop for cheaper car insurance because no other company covers double-wides set on private property; we're tied into a package deal. Yesterday we tried for a couple of recovery credit accounts and were denied, our insurance risk dropped us over 40 points to POOR! Bet we get a bill and our rates go up again!
