"thin credit file" @ 34. Will a store (ie-target) debt type cc build cr like typical cc?
I have never owed a credit nor have used any loan or school, car, home, etc. I do have a couple of bills under my name- rent, car ins, cable. Unfortunately I was recently laid off. Will that make it difficult or impossible to get a credit card? I heard secured cc can help build a "credit file" but I also hard secured cc can be costly (fees, etc.).
One last thought- since I problably would not quify for and auto (atleast one with out a predotpry rate). Would it be possiable to built credit if I borrow money from a family member and make payments to them (though I already own my car out right). Or would it be better if possible to pull a traditional loan and have a family member cosign?
I GREAT appreciate your time and any advice you can give.
