RETIREMENT CLOSE; DROWNING IN DEBT. IS BANKRUPTCY BEST?
I have $35000+ in unsecured debt. I make decent pay, but husband lost his job and we have lived on my income. Nothing is past due but I am maxed out and struggling to meet minimums, keep food on the table and utilities on. I used equity and savings to pay some bills and it did not work and we've had other emergencies. I will retire in 5 years and have a retirement plan, but if I file bankruptcy now, my senior years will show a negative mark that will follow me until..well... But if I continue to struggle on with minimums, I am unable to save again for emergencies, or contribute more towards retirement plan and a future after I retire. I am really at a loss. Would a Debt Management Plan really help?
Thanks!
