you need to get them to agree to a PAY FOR DELETE PFD before you pay a collection agency even if your not paying full price.  usually a pay for delete and non disclosure agreement NDA are best when negotiation the deal afterwards its harder to get it remove it CAN be done but its more difficult  you need to look into the verification and right to collect this debt . they have to have a , key word here "SIGNED" forum from the original debt holder like at&t makes you sign a contract in store , reason for this lol comcast does not they do a vocal over the phone well comcast's doesnt hold up in court where i live its not a signnature HOWEVER once the debts handed to a collection agency they need to provide a copy of this document to you as proof they have the right to collect this debt.

it needs to be done in writing as online the laws are diffrent and they can take their sweet time getting back to you. paper you snail mail and green tag recipte it and once you recieve it back in the mail they have 30 days to get all that back to you to prove they have the right to collect this debt AND that its your debt verification

hit them during holiday shopping seasons they are busy with new accounts and the older the account the easier it is for this document which is proof to get lost along the way making it easier to dispute and remove collections

google credit boards and myfico forums

how do you dispute?  Is there a particular form or do you just write your own letter? What reason(s) can you use to dispute debts?  Also what is the FASTEST way to improve your credit score?  Thank you for any help

when dealing with the vultures you need to demand your payment in return for removal. google "pay for delete" and "PFD" on or myfico forums you can learn what you want there. however if you have already paid the vultures they now have no reason to delete your debt from your credit report however there are other tactics you can now use. you can manully write letters , print them off your computer SNAIL MAIL with return recipet  its critical that you do this and do it during the holiday shopping season. then they have 30 days to respond to the CB's inquiry about such terms like your debt validation AND verification in writing. demanding recored proof in return. there are diffent laws that apply to the old way vs internet. online they are not required to get back to you in 30 days. and they get slammed during the holidays so they are most likely to not respond during christamas rush while they are trying to manage new accounts.

Very true.   Always try and get a pay for delete letter from them first.  If you already paid.  It doesn't matter to Fico whether you paid the collection or not.  It gives you the same score.  But lenders will look to see if it was paid.  Your credit score will get your foot in the door but your report will get you the card you desire.  Any collcections that cannot be removed will always look better paid in a lenders eyes.

If you pay your collection accounts to $0, it will reduce your 'past due' amount on your credit reports. You ideally want NO money past due to anyone. A $0 past due WILL improve your FICO.
