How long do multiple late payments affect you?
I had multiple late payments in college while I struggled to get by. Now however I have a good job, good car loan that my parents cosigned to help me get and currently paid off all my credit card debt, have started paying down my student loans and am hoping to get a house on my own soon. However, when I checked my credit score it said it was 610 (TU) and primarily due to late payments. After reviewing my credit report they were all legit and can't be removed (been trying and will keep trying) however after reading everything about this horror story of a credit scoring system it appears I am basically screwed for the next 7 years. Will it really take a full 7 years for my score to bounce back to something respectable? I've read that after two years of good solid payments the late payments "Don't affect as much" however does that mean in 2 years I can expect atleast a 660 credit score? 680? 700+ or am I going to have an amazing (sarcasm) increase of 2 points and be stuck with a terrible score. Any help would be amazing at this point as this is all really frustrating.
