Collection account continuously affecting score?
We are trying to improve my husband's credit score. He has one credit card in good standing, low balance, our car payment always paid on time, a few old closed accounts, and one collection account for a T Mobile bill.

The credit card is new and we know will help his credit as he didn't have any revolving credit prior. However, will the collection account negate and positive improvement from the new credit card? Once something is added to a credit report as collection does it consistently lower his score each month, or only when it's initially reported?

We are new to credit building/repairing.
