An old (?) account... Pay it or wait for it to fall off?
Thanks to Credit Karma, I noticed a new account sent to collections this morning. When I called the company, the told me the account was from 2005. It was assigned to a collections agency and reassigned to them in 2007. However it just appeared on my credit report in 2013! Of course they urged me to pay it. I called the original company I owed and the woman I spoke with was very nice. She basically told me that since it was sent to the agency in 2007, it would drop off my account in 2014, next year. My question is, should I pay it or wait for it to drop off? I've worked with a credit repair agency in the past. Their advice was to wait for old debt to fall off as opposed to paying it because if I paid it, it would be at the top of the list then and take another seen years to fall of though it would state it has been paid. (I think that's what I remember a least) so even if it just showed up on my account but assigned 6 years ago, does this still hold true? Thanks so much for any advice!
