Perfect for rebuilding and establishing

I don't understand all the negative reviews.  I have had this card since Nov 2014.  The application process was extremely simple and fast.  I was approved, deposited the funds and had my card within 7 days.   I have never had to wait 14 days for payments to process, maybe 7 days but as of late, my payments are available within a few days.   Listen folks, they have to make sure the money you are paying actually clears your bank. Remember, if we weren't sub prime account holders then maybe it would post same day.  It doesn't matter that they have a secutiry deposit. Just like a landlord, who also has a security depost, won't allow you to be late with your rent.  I have NEVER had a problem with this bank.  You can even add funds to your account to increase your line of credit which I also have done with no problems.  I haven't had to speak with any customer service reps so I can't comment on that aspect.  Sure, you can't convert to a secured card with this bank but that is stated up front.  I look at it as if I have another savings account somewhere that I can't touch.   People need to read the terms and conditions of any card - read all the fine print before applying and you won't have any surprises.   Do not use more than 30% utilization! Of course if there is an emergency you may have no choice but pay it down as fast as you can.  Your credit score will drop if your utilization is high.  If your a member of Credit Karma you should have learned that in the first few weeks of reading.  My credit score rose 60 points within the first few months of having this card and 100 points within a year.   It continues to rise as I take good care of my credit and spending habits, somthing I didn't do when I was younger. Another thing, before applying with a company read reviews as much as you can and not just this website, all over there are reviews on every credit card company.  As I stated above it is very important to take the time to read the terms and conditions.  I hear too often people claiming they were never told something, meanwhile they check the box stating they read the terms and conditions where that certain "something" was stated.   That section contains all the information you need to know about the rules of their game.  I wish everyone the best on rebuilding or establishing credit.

Should I avoid the dealership financing agents every way possible?

Why shouldn't we buy gap insurance?  I am glad I had GAP on my last car which was totaled.  The GAP insurance covered the GAP between the Cars current value and the outstanding loan balance.

What am I not understanding?

Credit Karma score compared to FICO score. If my CK score is 730 what would my FICO score be?

My FICO is much higher
Helpful to 2 out of 2 people

CK sent me an email stating my score lowered.   I quickly checked and sure enough, it is telling me it dropped 40 points.  I freaked.  I went to check my FICO through Experian, which I get all 3 FICO scores plus monitoring, for a monthly fee, and my FICO scores are 50-65 points higher!!  These FICO scores just came out so I am not looking at scores from a month or two ago.  So CK is trying to get me to sign up for these credit cards that are offered to people with low-fair credit scores - CK states my scores are 630 and lower.  Not true at all.   Last year, my CK scores were much higher than my FICO scores, but at that time I did not know the games they play and I applied for cards I didn't qualify for!

how can i raise my credit score 100 points in 6 months

open up a secured credit card with Capitol One.( DO NOT get Credit One confused with Capitol One)  You give them $200 which is "security" and they give you $200 available credit.  Keep your usage under 30%.  Making your payments on time and keeping utilization low you will get back your security deposit and an increase in available credit.  This will take time, it doesn't happen overnight.  Best of luck.

DON'T DO IT

Let her get a secured credit card to build her credit.  She can ruin you.  It takes years to build a good credit history and a few hours to destroy it.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS ADVICE AOVE!!  You cannot magically improve your credit.  If a company can verify it, it is true.  If they can't verify it, they must remove it.  These are things you can do yourself.  Educate yourself utilizing the many tools offered for FREE on this site.

There is no such thing as a 110 % guarantee either.

score on Karma credit was 624-went to the dealership and was told my score was actually 494? Advice?...

Credit Karma does not give you your FICO score, they give you your vantage score.  Big difference.  Always get your FICO score before applying for any type of lending.

should i close my newest account

Don't close all your accounts, that is not a good idea.  You don't know what the future holds and you may just need a credit card one day.  150K is not that much money (though I wish I had that) to retire on.  If you close all your cards, nothing will be reported and your scores will drop drastically.  Your score will not stay the same.   Pay off the balances like you want to and put the cards away, don't use them so this way you will maintain your good score.

Credit Karma score compared to FICO score. If my CK score is 730 what would my FICO score be?

I have the opposite.  Experian has my scores 50-65 points higher than CK.

Experian uses FICO 9.    I pay them monthly for credit monitoring and every three months I get all 3 FICO scores.   Meanwhile, CK is presenting me with offers for "rebuilding your credit" credit card offers, something I do not need.  I went from bad credit to good credit, it took time but I did it.

Now, I have to get rid of Fingerhut!!  They are constantly raising my credit limit but if I do not use the available credit, I cannot keep it.  They then take it back which appears that my limit has been decreased and that is lowering my score every other month.  That is some dirty work by Fingerhut!!   They were of some help when I was rebuilding a few years back,  not anymore.

Perhaps in another few weeks it will update.  If it doesn't, contact them again.

Who do I dispute this with?

Start with the supplier.  They may accept your payment or tell you that you have to contact the collection agency.  Try to do a "pay for delete".
