Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card: What you need to know
The Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card is a straightforward rewards card with no annual fee. But to qualify, you’ll likely need excellent credit. If you’re considering adding this Capital One credit card to your wallet, here are some other important things you need to know.
Simple, unlimited cash back rewards
With this rewards card, you’ll get unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase, no matter what you’re buying. There’s no cap on the rewards you can earn, and your rewards don’t expire. Since you’ll earn rewards at a flat rate, you won’t need to worry about keeping track of rotating bonus categories or shopping at certain stores.
And though it’s not one of the best travel cards on the market, if you use the Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card to rent cars or book hotels or vacation rentals through the Capital One Travel portal, you’ll get 5% back for every $1 spent.
Not only is it easy to earn rewards when you use this card, it’s simple to redeem them, too. You can get your cash back in the form of a statement credit or gift cards. You can also use your cash back rewards directly for eligible PayPal and Amazon purchases.
But it’s worth noting that even though this card’s rewards are simple to earn and redeem, the 1.5% rate is on the low end compared to other rewards cards or luxury credit cards.
Strong sign-up bonus
The Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card offers a $200 sign-up bonus, which you can earn after spending at least $500 on purchases in the first 3 months of having the card. Plus, for a limited time, you’ll get a $100 credit to use towards flights, stays and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel during your first cardholder year. If you’re looking to earn a little extra cash without spending too much, this card makes it easy to do without too large of an investment — especially if you planned to make a large purchase anyway.
Generous introductory APR for purchases and balance transfers
For the first 15 months after getting the card, Capital One offers 0% APR on purchases and balance transfers. After the intro period ends, expect a variable APR of 18.99% - 28.99% on purchases and balance transfers. Any balance transfers you make during the introductory period will be subject to 3% for the first 15 months; 4% at a promotional APR that Capital One may offer you at any other time. Though the offer is solid, it may be worth comparing to other no-interest credit cards.
Helpful card and credit monitoring tools
To help manage your finances, the Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card offers tools to manage your card spend and monitor your credit reports. If your card is ever lost or stolen, you can lock the card, helping minimize the risk of fraudulent charges.
Capital One also offers free credit-monitoring tools, so you can track your Experian® and TransUnion® credit reports over time and keep an eye out for any potential negative credit changes.
What else you need to know about the Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card
Here are a few other things to consider before applying for the Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card.
- Combine Capital One rewards — If you already have other Capital One credit cards, you may be able to pool this card’s rewards with rewards from your other Capital One cards. But it’s worth noting that not all Capital One cards are eligible.
 - Shopping tool can help you save — This card comes with access to Capital One Shopping, a tool that can automatically apply relevant coupons to your online shopping carts.
 - Virtual card numbers can help protect you online — Capital One can generate virtual card numbers for online shopping. This option acts as replacement for the 16-digit code printed on your card, and it keeps your real card number private.
 - Paying late will cost you — If you miss a payment, you’ll have to pay up to $40, which can add up quickly, especially if you pay late more than once.

Who the Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card is good for
The Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card is a solid cash back card for people who want to earn a decent, straightforward rewards rate on all purchases without fussing over rotating bonus categories or shopping at specific businesses. It can also be a good option for people who are looking for a card with a 0% introductory APR. But if you’re looking for a cash back card with more rewards-earning potential, you may want to look at other cash back cards or travel rewards cards. And if you don’t have excellent credit, this card may not be a good fit.
Not sure if this is the card for you? Consider these alternatives.
Here are some alternative cards to consider if the Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card isn’t a good fit for you.
- Citi Double Cash® Card: This card is great for people want a straightforward cash back rewards rate.
 - Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express: For families or people who like to eat in and keep money in their wallet, this card maximizes cash back rewards on useful categories.
 - Citi® Diamond Preferred® Card: If you’re looking for a better balance transfer offer, consider this card.

Good rewards card
— Credit Karma Member
I use this card as my daily use card. I don't travel or eat out often so I wanted a simple cash back card. They make it convenient to use your cash back through the app.

Watch out for the “Residual Interest”
— Credit Karma Member
I got a 15 month interest free promo and when it ended I paid interest on my statement…no big deal, the following month I paid the card off in full, but Capital One got me on their “residual interest” and explained that they charge interest two months in a row - customer service is below average and I would not recommend this to a friend
