Getting a credit card does not "Fix" your scores.  First I would look at the things that are pulling your credit score down and fix those.  There are a lot of good articals here on CK that will help explain credit.

As far as credit cards.  Hard to say because we cant see your credit report.  We would need more info about what is in your report such as credit score, any derogatory marks.... this is the kind of info that makes it easier to answer questions.

The purpose of Credit Karma is to teach people how credit works and how to improve one's credit score.  The articles on this site are well worth reading and the interactive financial tools are a great help for those who will take the time to read and learn.  I got a lot of help here!!
