Is there a way to consolidate your student loans?
My students loans are a big portion of credit debt.

YES! I've done it w/great results...

My federal loans (about $148,000 total) are now consolidated with Great Lakes and I'm on an income-based repayment plan.  They have to be federal loans, though.  I have a private loan with Sallie Mae that is in repayment status, and I've made on-time payments for 3 years.  Don't stress for another minute if you have federal student loan debt (that has not gone into default).  I would highly recommend contacting Great Lakes - they are wonderful to work with.

I hope this helps.
