I recieved an e-mail stating that there had been 7 inquiries from a strange company.
It is from a company that I have never heard of before and doesn't seem to be legit. What should I make of this?

Dispute it with the company and with all 3 bureaus.  Bureau disputes can be done at www.annualcreditreport.com.  Sometimes your creditors sell an account to someone else, so that may be the situation.  Any current creditor can pull your credit report for monitoring, but that is NOT a hard inquiry and doesn't affect your scores.
