Some credit cards charge annual fees. No one is making you apply for them. Depending how you utilize the cards makes the difference in whether the perks are worth the fees. While the $450 annual fee on the Amex Platinum won't benefit me; the Amex Blue Preferred earns 6% at grocery stores up to $6000 a year. This makes the $75 annual fee worth it for me.

Citi Double Cash, Bank America Cash Rewards credit card, Bank of America Travel Rewards credit card don't charge an annual fee.
