How does a lawsuit effect a credit score.
We had a fraudulent lawsuit placed on us from a car accident years ago. The insurance company is handling everything w/o our say and are planning to settle to have the guy stay silent for some small amount (est <$100) but they sent us details that says this can affect our credit and will stay on the records for 7 years.
Has anyone had any experience with this and how it effects our score?
