I think it's wrong that hard inquiries affect our scores....I have A's in everything but hard inquiries, which is a D.  This is because I look around for the best rate in everything I apply for such as insurance, refinancing, personal loans, etc.  I particularly hate it that insurance companies check your credit score....how are you supposed to find the best price without getting hit on your credit????

annualcreditreport.com does not give you a score...only provides you with a credit report.  You have to pay extra for a score for each one.

From what I understand it takes 2 years for a hard iquiry to come off your credit report.  It sucks that if you are looking around for the best deal in financing anything or even refinancing, you are hit with a hard inquiry.  Not sure how many points come off for a hard hit but recently my credit was checked twice by Wells Fargo in a 3 month period and I got TWO hard hits...it was for the same loan too.  I am so angry at Wells Fargo.  Do not use Wells Fargo if you want a home mortgage or refinance.  They didn't even tell me they were going to check my credit twice and that I would be hit a second time with a hard credit check.

I agree.  Wells Fargo hit me twice in a 60 day period for the same loan.  When I called the credit company to complain they said that was the way it worked.....if the score is requested after 30 days has passed, even if it's the same company that requested it the first time, you get hit once again.  I think the only thing that should count is your history of paying bills.  I have no late payments in 40 years of paying bills, my score started out extremely high but with so many companies hitting up my score, it has gone down quite a bit and those requests stay on your report fot TWO YEARS!!!!

Wells Fargo is the worst bank I've ever dealt with.  They will hit your credit over and over for the same loan until it has gone down considerably.

I have the same question.  I tried to contact a couple of the credit bureaus but none of them supply a phone number...only an e-mail or an address to write to them.  This sucks.  you cannot talk to anyone at the credit bureaus about your credit report.  You have to put it in writing and wait and hope for a response.

Wells Fargo sucks.  They check your credit without even telling you.  DO NOT use Wells Fargo for anything.  They don't care if they mess up your credit.

I get comment alerts but I don't see any replies.  Why aren't the replies posted?

Why can't congress do something about this?  It's very hard to keep a high credit score with so many companies hitting you up for your score.  Congress is a do nothing group of people in my opinion.  They are worthless.

I agree on the insurance companies...makes it difficult to change companies if you are unhappy with your present one.  Are there ANY insurance companies that don't require a credit check?  I think if companies did that, they would get a lot of people switching to their company for the simple fact that a lot of us are not happy with our insurance companies.
