In a Nutshell

The Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card is a decent choice for anyone who wants a simple, straightforward balance transfer or cash back card, but it likely won’t be the best choice for someone looking for a card in just one of these categories. But if you want to make a balance transfer and then earn cash back on the same card, this could be the right choice for you.

We think it's important for you to understand how we make money. It's pretty simple, actually. The offers for financial products you see on our platform come from companies who pay us. The money we make helps us give you access to free credit scores and reports and helps us create our other great tools and educational materials.

Compensation may factor into how and where products appear on our platform (and in what order). But since we generally make money when you find an offer you like and get, we try to show you offers we think are a good match for you. That's why we provide features like your Approval Odds and savings estimates.

Of course, the offers on our platform don't represent all financial products out there, but our goal is to show you as many great options as we can.

What you need to know about the Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card

Straightforward cash rewards

If you’re looking for a card with a simple cash rewards program, this one could be right for you. You’ll earn a flat 1.5% cash back on all net purchases — there are no bonus categories to track. While this rewards rate is lower than what you’ll see from some other rewards cards, it’s still in line with many of its competitors.

You’ll also have the opportunity to earn a sign-up bonus when you open your account. If you spend $500 on purchases during your first 3 months after account opening, you’ll earn $150 in bonus rewards.

Redeeming your cash rewards is pretty easy, too. There’s no minimum redemption amount and you can redeem your cash back as a statement credit, check or gift card. There’s even an option to set up automatic redemptions whenever your balance reaches a certain level.

A nice 0% APR intro offer

Cash back isn’t the only reason to consider the Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card . The card also offers an intro 0% APR on both purchases and balance transfers for the first 15 months from account opening. A variable APR of 15.49% - 25.49% applies to both after the intro period ends. If you transfer a balance within the 15-month intro offer period, you’ll pay a fee of 3% of the amount transferred. You won’t have to pay a fee after that, but you’ll be hit with the regular balance transfer APR.

The 0% intro APR offer on purchases can be a helpful feature if you anticipate making a big purchase soon or need to carry a balance in an emergency.

Before you transfer a balance to any credit card, familiarize yourself with some of the risks of the process and dig into the details of the specific offer. For example, note that you can’t transfer a balance to the Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card from any other card issued by Capital One.

You’ll also want to consider if the 15-month intro offer is long enough for you to fully pay off your credit card debt. Some other cards with intro balance transfer offers give cardholders at least three more months with a 0% APR.

Who this card is good for

The Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card is a good option for somebody who’s looking to pay off credit card debt with a balance transfer and get continued use from the card once the intro APR offer ends.

You can save on interest by transferring a balance to the Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card, but the rewards mean you’ll still have a reason to use the card once the APR promotions end. While this card doesn’t excel in any single area, it does a good job of meeting multiple needs and providing ongoing value.

But if you don’t mind carrying multiple cards, then there are better options out there. Certain cards offer longer intro APR promotions or lower balance transfer fees, and you can find other cash back credit cards with higher rewards rates on purchases.

Not sure if this is the card for you? Consider these alternatives.

If you’re looking for a good balance transfer or cash back card, but don’t think the Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card is right for you, you may want to consider these alternatives.
