I'm trying to build my credit score. I have been appling to different credit cards but I keep on getting rejected. Does this effect my credit score?

there is no such thing as 'negative points'...
every time you offer your DOB and SSN on an application, you are giving permission for someone to pull your credit.. every 'hard' credit pull costs you points... you never want to let anyone have your information unless you are serious about opening a new account.

try capital one newcomers card...I got turned down by my own bank, walmart, and every student card you can apply for but they approved me INSTANTLYand i was born in US so i not a foreigner http://reviews.creditkarma.com/credit-cards/CCCapitalOne1016/1/
