My credit score is 490 and I want to buy a house.

I graduated college in Dec 2010. I have 20k in student loans in which I am 6 months behind. I also have 5k debt in collections from credit cards when I was 18. I want to buy a house & I would be the primary person on the mortgage. I need help in raising my credit score fast. My credit score is 490. YIKES!!! Please help me.

unfortunately your score can't rise fast it can only fall fast.....you will have to wait a year and thats only IF you take steps to correct it now....ie: secured credit cards...a bank loan possible but i doubt they'll give you one unless its cashed secured...to be quite honest your in no position to apply for a mortgage for a year and thats if you took aggresive action your best best is to wait to years and try paying off and getting your debt up to date ie: those 6 months of student loans...best of luck
