I closed my one and only Chase card months ago. I sort of got the feeling Chase was not a bank with which I wanted to have any dealings. As it turns out, I was right. I'm glad I followed my hunch.

I opened 3 no fault CDs when Ally's rate was 2.50. No fault CDs are one step removed from total liquidity. I move the interest into my Ally money market and write myself one check each month for the amount. I've had no problems whatsoever with Ally. Good customer phone service and high rates. Plus, each day's accrued interest is indicated online.

The CON says it all in my case. I closed this account because after putting everything I could think of I didn't even come close to the $6,500 high earning threshold; that sum is too hard to attain.
