My wife and i cleared up a massive amount of debt, we have lived witout credit cards for over 4 years. our scores are in the 640-ies. we both got instantly approved for one with $2000,-. each it is not my first choice as a card, but hey, it is a new season and we start at square one. i plan to upgrade over the coming years.
